Employees of Safeway Award Grant to St. Ann's Center

Last month, St. Ann's Center received a generous donation from the Safeway Foundation, which has been supporting our work with vulnerable women and children since 2006.

The Safeway Foundation is funded through the contributions of Safeway employees throughout its Eastern Division, which operates 125 grocery stores in Northern Virginia, Maryland, Delaware, and Washington, DC. The Foundation distributes more than $250,000 annually with special emphasis on organizations in the areas of hunger relief, education, health and human services, and special needs.

"The employees of Safeway are proud to be able to support local organizations like this that touch the lives of our customers," said Gregory Ten Eyck, chairman of the Safeway Foundation for the Eastern Division.

Ten Eyck said that the decisions on grants are made by a committee comprised of a diverse group of Safeway employees from throughout its local operating area.

St. Ann's Center is grateful for the continued support and friendship of our local Safeway employees.
