The National Theatre at St. Ann’s

Julio 18, 2018

St. Ann’s families continue to benefit from our relationship with The National Theatre.  We have welcomed local talented performers for more than 5 years.  The National Theatre provides St. Ann’s with pro bono performances by musicians, clowns, and story tellers. It’s mission to, “Serve the community by presenting the highest caliber of performing arts, ranging from Broadway productions to classical and popular entertainment to award-winning educational programming” includes allowing access to the performing arts to underserved families and children in the DC metro area.

This month, St. Ann’s welcomes three artists. Spinny Johnson, a basketball performer, entertained both moms and their children earlier this month with his trick shot artistry. Spinny has worked with the world-famous Harlem Globetrotters and has performed with such greats as Wilt Chamberlain, Curly Neal, Meadowlark Lemon, and Marques Haynes.

This week, St. Ann’s welcomes back Rochelle Rice. Rochelle has volunteered at St. Ann’s in the past and brought to the families fun and musical activities such as early childhood music singalongs and story time. This international performer will be delivering another interactive and fun musical performance!

Curtis Blues wraps up our July line-up of National Theatre performers. Curtis Blues is a teaching artist and multi-instrumentalist who makes the history of modern popular music come alive. Curtis makes his show an interactive experience by bringing fascinating instruments like a homemade cigar box guitar into the audience to see and hear up close.
